Dear Military Wife

Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Dear Military Wife,

You may have just sent your hubby off or he might be on hold and preparing just in case.  Yours may be going directly into the conflict while some are there to support, but the feelings are the same.  The fear is the same. The sadness is the same.  The emptiness is the same.  Your life went from completely normal to uncertain in a blink of an eye.

If I could, I would reach over and give you a big hug.  It is okay to feel scared, to be mad, cry, to be sad, frustrated, to not know how to verbalize how you feel.  It’s okay to want to hold on to your hubby a little longer, to sleep on his side of the bed, not wash one of his shirts so you remember what he smells like.  I am so sorry that for this time this is your new normal.

Some days will be good and some days will be hard.  You are strong and you will make it through each day.  You will wake up and do what needs to get done.  You will go to work, take care of the kids, cook, clean, and live life with a missing piece of your heart.  At some point there will be a hiccup in your journey and you’ll have to ask for help. ASK and TAKE IT.  This is your season to receive, take all the help and all the prayers people throw your way.

You're not alone.  You’re not alone in how you feel.  You’re not alone in what you are going through.  You’re not alone doing everyday life.  I want you to know that I am praying for you and we are going to make it through this together.

Love,
Patty

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your promise that you will never leave us or forsake us.  I thank you that you are with us no matter where we go.  You will work all things out for our good and have promised us eternity.

I lift up my sisters to you right now who are heavy with emotions and pray that your peace which surpasses all understanding would guard their hearts and their minds.  You have not given us a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind.  I pray that as we yolk to you and surrender our burdens at your feet, you would teach us. Teach us how to take each thought captive.  Show us how to use the sword of the Spirit which is your word and fight; fight for ourselves, for our families, and for our husbands.   When times are overwhelmingly hard may we see your goodness and faithfulness. We trade our anxiety for prayers and thanksgiving.

Our hope is in you and when we are weak you are strong.  I pray that today and everday  until our families are reunited, that You would tangibly show us your presence.  In Jesus name I pray. AMEN.
