If I had to choose one thing to plan each week that would help the house run smoother it would be meal planning. "What's for dinner" is my least favorite question and I never regret taking a few minutes to get my ducks in a row.
I meal plan according to our weekly schedule, starting with what events, sports, parties, or functions. From there, I fill in the blanks.
